Our Mission :

The Advocacy and Resource Center is a private non profit human service agency which has provided services to the developmentally disabled citizens of Clinton County since 1954. The Agency was founded by several determined parents who came together with their handicapped sons and daughters looking for an alternative to life in an "institution". These parents began with a small educational program at the Lakeside School - a school which they built in 1954 with volunteer labor, donated materials and lots of love.

The Advocacy and Resource Center continues to investigate ways to expand the services they provide.  Maintaining the highest quality of service and programs has been a focus for the over 400 employees of the Agency and is part of the legacy which has been handed down from those determined founding parents.
